Elf, defender of all that is green, goes for a walk on a nice day in the wood.

Please Note: I did not make this figure. It is a game figure of Elwing from Shining Tears. Made by President Japan, released March 2007.

I love the angles and depth of field you get in your figurine shots! Do you find yourself having to use macro a lot, or does it handle it just fine without?

Thanks for the kind feedback.

Hmm I can't actually remember if I set Macro for this one or not since I wasn't as closeup for this one. But I probably did.

I have the camera on the Custom setting so that I can set it to take multiple shots whilst holding down the button (and take at least 2 - 3 shots each time, I find the camera actually does a really good job of keeping focus I just like to be on the safe side). So I do always manually set it to macro if I want to focus on something close, I'm still a newbie so its just that I tried to read up on cameras before buying one and read up on what macro is and so usually turn to it if I'm in that special circumstance of focusing on close and small objects. I do love macro though, its very powerful on this camera I think. I think that was one of its advertised strongpoints. Like this weird insect I found (who was very lazy and let me get extremely close): [link]
You can actually see the hair/fur on his back, freaky!

Only other setting I change is the ISO setting when necessary (e.g. indoors or just to be on the safe side). I need to get to grips sometime with the various other custom settings, especially the exposure and shutter speed type settings. I took some photographs of fireworks though and alot of them came out really great without any special settings so I think auto works really well and am content with leaving them auto. But I think if I want to take a shot of something with little to no lighting I will definitely read up more on it. I also like some of the effects people do with long exposure times.

Hiya, thanks for dropping by. Unfortunately I can't personally help with this question. I've never actually played any of the 'Shining' series ^^; I treat figures like sculpture art alot of the time, and bought most based on aesthetics/design/quality etc. although of course I have ones of characters I really like too (but only if the quality looks 'good' naturally).

I certainly like some of the character designs and artworks but haven't actually looked into the game itself. My friend [link] may of played it though, could drop her a Note if you like. There was another game I knew of with the first name of 'Shining' (not related to the same series) and she would always ask if it was from that series :D So theres a chance she may be familiar with the series as a whole etc. Other than that I guess there's just online reviews etc., sorry I can't be of more help. Best of luck in your decision! :)

Best regards.
